Terms
The honest fine print.
We tried to write these in plain English. Where the legalese is unavoidable, we flagged it.

1. What PocketPal is
PocketPal is a personal budgeting tool. It helps you plan how to spend each paycheck and log what you actually spend. It doesn't move money, doesn't connect to your bank, and isn't financial advice. We're a software company, not a lender or bank.
2. Your account
You need an account to use PocketPal. You sign in with your email and a one-time code, and you agree to give accurate information and keep access to that email secure. One person per account. You can delete your account at any time from Menu → Settings → Your data → Delete account, which erases your sign-in, your profile and everything you logged. What we keep after a deletion is listed in the privacy policy.
3. Subscriptions
PocketPal+ is a subscription billed through Apple App Store or Google Play. They handle the charge, refund, and cancellation. Prices vary by region. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. We can't issue refunds, only Apple/Google can.
4. AI features
Receipt scanning, statement import, the cycle recap and Pal, the in-app assistant, use a third-party AI provider (Google Gemini). Scanning reads the photo on your phone and sends only the text; the photo never leaves it. A statement PDF is sent to our server to pull out its text, then discarded. Pal only sends anything after you agree to it. A picture you attach to a savings goal or an instalment plan is different and is stored, privately, until you remove it. AI can be wrong: always check what it gives you before you save or act on it. Pal isn't financial advice.
5. Free tier limits
The free tier includes unlimited manual transactions, up to 4 active envelopes, and 3 AI receipt scans per calendar month. Envelopes you already created always keep working; the cap only applies to creating new ones. Premium removes the envelope cap and raises scans, statement imports included, to a fair-use limit of 500 a month. Scan limits reset on the 1st of each month.
6. What we do not promise
PocketPal is provided 'as is'. We don't guarantee it will be bug-free, available 24/7, or save you money. Use at your own discretion. We aren't liable for financial decisions you make based on what the app shows.
7. Acceptable use
Don't try to break the app, reverse-engineer it, scrape data, or use it to deceive others. We can suspend accounts that violate these terms.
8. Changes
We may update these terms, when we do, we'll notify you in-app. Continued use after a change means you accept the new version.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of your country of residence. Disputes are resolved in your local courts.
10. Contact
Questions? Email support@pocketpal.me or use the contact form at pocketpal.me/contact. We read everything (eventually).
